Bagel Boss has built its identity around serving customers quality food in a welcoming environment in the Long Island, NY area since 1975. The well-established bagel shop has always been a staple in the New York area. However, the brand looked to modernize its locations and needed a graphics update that would refresh both the interior and exterior of the restaurant. PPD&G took on the challenge of transforming the Bagel Boss spaces with a full ongoing national graphics package rollout.

Challenge at Bagel Boss

Bagel Boss has been established in the Long Island area since 1975 and became a clear example of that legacy showing its age. The storefront relied on a small taped-up paper sign and printed hours on the glass door without any branded presence from the parking lot. The Bagel Boss interior contained a printed banner menu on the prepared foods counter which demonstrated a temporary sign instead of a considered brand environment. As PPD&G has already handled the full graphics and installation rollout for Bagel Boss locations nationwide, this unique New York staple needed to be brought in line with the modernized brand look while still honoring the 50-year-old bagel store to feel more authentic.

Approach to Bagel Boss Brand Modernization

Rather than a full teardown, the PPD&G project focused on layering the updated Bagel Boss identity onto the existing bones of the space through many brand graphic updates:

Exterior Signage: A clean new “Bagel BB Boss, Established 1975” sign panel installed under the storefront awning, replacing the previous unbranded entry to give clear visibility from the plaza.
Entry Door Graphics: Full-height door wraps featuring high-contrast black-and-white bagel photography, the updated BB logo lockup, and clearly printed store hours were established to replace the makeshift taped signage with a considered, photograph-driven design.
Dining Area Walls: A large-format mural combining black-and-white New York City imagery, such as the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty, with bold typographic call-outs like “Breaksfast”, “Fresh”, “Artisan Bagels”, “Lunch”, “Catering”, “Platters”, and “Delivery” to reinforce the full menu of services in a graphic, editorial style.
Overhead Menu Signage: A new dimensional-style header sign spanning the seating area, pairing the “BB” mark with the core menu categories in a bold, easy-to-read format that replaces the printed banner above the deli case.
Interior Column and Support Graphics: A matching black-and-white photo collage applied to a support column, extending the brand story into secondary sightlines throughout the dining area.

Results of Bagel Boss Modernization

The results of the graphics modernization in the Bagel Boss exterior and interior created a refreshed space that maintains the neon “Create Your Own Salad” sign and red vinyl booth seating that regular customers associate with the shop, while wrapping the rest in a cohesive, modern graphic identity. The graphics update reads as an evolution rather than a replacement, giving Bagel Boss a consistent, elevated look that can be repeated across the broader store rollout while preserving the neighborhood feel that’s kept customers coming back since 1975.
